COURSE: Honors Choir
CONTENT STANDARD(S): Music is a massive subject. Students will explore music.
PERFORMANCE
STANDARD(S): Students will develop the
skills of vocal performance including, breath control, tone quality,
sight-reading, dynamics, balance, phrasing, expression, articulation of
rhythmic patterns and historical knowledge.
GRADE RUBRIC:

(A) Students demonstrate all performance standards in an outstanding and
insightful way. Students have near
perfect attendance in class, at sectional and group rehearsals and at all
performances. |

(B) Students demonstrate all performance standards in an excellent
way. Students have near perfect
attendance in class, at sectional and group rehearsals and at all performances. |
|
(C) Students demonstrate all performance standards in an average
way. Students have missed a few
classes and one rehearsal, but attended all performances. |
|
(D) Students demonstrate all performance standards in a below- average
way. Students have missed several
classes and two rehearsals and one performance. |
|
(F) Students fail to meet performance standards. Students miss several classes, rehearsals
and one performance. |
READING
COMPONENT: Students will read music
each day. Each student will research,
write a paper and give an oral presentation of one of the composers or periods
of music we are working on in class.

Grading: Your grade is based on the
following:

Daily attendance = 10 pts.
Per day
·
Test in class = 30 pts.
·
Term paper = 50 pts. /Oral
presentation = 50 pts (100 pts. total)
·
Written response assignments
= 30 pts.
·
After-school rehearsals &
sectionals = 20 pts.
Citizenship grade: Your grade is based on the
following,
·
Attendance, participation,
listening and attitude
·
You are allowed one tardy per
semester. After that, your grade will
drop one letter grade per tardy.
·
Truancies are unacceptable.
You will be placed on probation and your grade will be three letter
grades lower.
